Following up on the first young European Bee-eater to be seen i Norway, another late, spectacular and rare visitor appeared in Øygarden outside Bergen in western Norway. A Hoopoe was photographed at Førehjelmo a few days ago, and was later relocated a few kilometres away at Nautnes. Although it didn’t stay as long as the Bee-eater, the sighting added to what became a surprisingly colourful and memorable late autumn for local bird enthusiasts.

A few kilometers south of the Hoopoe, a drake Ring-necked Duck showed up a few days ago. The bird showed well and fed among Tufted Ducks when visited the site. This was only the third Ring-necked Duck record in Hordaland.
