Urban Eagle Owl

An unexpected find in the middle of Bergen city.

Despite breeding in the surrounding municipalities, Eagle Owls are extremely rare visitors in the centre of Bergen city (western Norway). This unexpected bird gave great view for several birders during the whole day on the 30 December 2001. It was roosting in a park in the middle of the city, but constantly got its naps interrupted by rather aggressive Hooded Crows dropping cones in the head of the majestetic bird.
